Editorial standards
How we research, write, review, and rank the products and services we cover. Our methodology, sources, and independence principles.

Our editorial mission
Kaeltripton.com exists to help UK readers and businesses make better-informed financial, consumer, and operational decisions. We publish independent comparison guides, product reviews, calculators, primary-source explainers, and a directory of FCA-authorised firms.
We are not a financial adviser. We are not a broker. We do not provide regulated advice. We are an editorial publisher operating under UK law, and our purpose is to make complex UK financial and consumer topics understandable, accurate, and useful.
Editorial independence
Our editorial team controls what appears in our articles, reviews, comparisons, and rankings. Advertisers, sponsors, and affiliate partners have no influence over our editorial content, no preview of articles before publication, and no ability to alter or remove negative coverage.
When a piece of content is produced in commercial partnership with a brand, we label it clearly as Sponsored, Advertorial, or Featured Partner content. Our standard editorial articles and comparison guides are produced independently.
The commercial relationships we have, and how they are funded, are documented in full at /affiliate-disclosure/.
How we research products and services
Our review methodology depends on the product category, but follows the same core principles across the site.
Primary research
Where possible, we test products directly. For physical products we cover, we examine the product specifications, manufacturer documentation, customer review data, and where applicable we conduct hands-on usage to evaluate real-world performance against marketing claims. For software and digital services, we test free trials, evaluation accounts, and the documented feature sets.
Source verification
For any specific rate, threshold, allowance, or regulated figure we publish, we cite the primary source. For UK content, this means:
- Tax and allowances: HMRC and gov.uk
- Financial regulation: Financial Conduct Authority (fca.org.uk)
- Insurance: Association of British Insurers (ABI), Financial Ombudsman Service (fos.org.uk)
- Energy: Ofgem (ofgem.gov.uk), Elexon, Energy Ombudsman
- Banking and rates: Bank of England (bankofengland.co.uk)
- Statistics and demography: Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk)
- Immigration: UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), gov.uk
- Council tax: The relevant local authority's official website
- Legislation: legislation.gov.uk
We do not cite secondary aggregators (MoneySavingExpert, Which?, Reddit, social media) as sources for specific figures. Where these sites are referenced, it is for context only and the underlying primary source is identified separately.
Customer review aggregation
For consumer products we cover, we aggregate verified customer review data from multiple platforms (Amazon verified purchases, Trustpilot, manufacturer reviews where audited) to inform our assessment of real-world product performance. Customer review aggregation supplements but does not replace our own editorial assessment.
How we rank products
Product rankings reflect our independent editorial judgment about which products best serve readers across different criteria. We rank by genuine merit, not commission rates.
For each comparison guide, we establish weighted criteria before ranking. These vary by category but typically include:
- Product quality and reliability based on testing and customer review data
- Value for money at current published pricing
- Brand trust and track record
- Customer service and support quality
- Fit for stated use case (we publish use-case-specific rankings where one product is not best for all readers)
- UK availability, support, and warranty terms
In comparison pages, we sometimes feature an "Editor's Choice" or "Best Overall" pick. This reflects our judgment about which option suits most readers in the relevant category. We also publish use-case-specific recommendations (best for streaming, best for privacy, best for budget) because one product is rarely best for every reader.
Where the best product for the reader is one we cannot earn commission on, we still recommend it. Honest rankings build the long-term trust that makes our recommendations useful.
Content currency and review cycles
Pricing, regulations, product features, and market conditions change. We mark every article with a "Last reviewed" date so readers can see content currency.
Major comparison guides and pillar pages are reviewed on a quarterly schedule. Rate-sensitive content (ISAs, savings, mortgage rates, energy prices) is reviewed more frequently and updated whenever a material change occurs. Where a specific rate or price is quoted, we include the date we observed it.
If you spot outdated information on the site, please tell us at support@kaeltripton.com and we will investigate.
Corrections policy
When we publish an error, we correct it. Material errors that affect a reader's understanding of a product, rate, or regulatory position are corrected promptly. Where a correction materially changes the published recommendation or analysis, we note the correction visibly on the article.
To request a correction, email support@kaeltripton.com with the URL, the specific claim, and the basis for your correction request. We respond to correction requests within five working days.
Author bylines and accountability
Every article on kaeltripton.com carries a visible author byline and a "Last reviewed" date. Chandraketu Tripathi serves as Finance Editor and is responsible for the editorial standards across the site.
Author credentials and contact information are available at /about/. Where guest contributors or specialist experts contribute, their qualifications and any relevant commercial relationships are disclosed on their author page.
What we do not do
- Provide regulated financial advice. Kael Tripton Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Nothing on the site constitutes financial advice. Before making any financial decision, speak to an FCA-authorised adviser.
- Recommend products we have not researched. Every product featured in a comparison, review, or ranking has been evaluated against our methodology.
- Allow advertisers to alter editorial coverage. Featured Partner placements are clearly labelled and do not influence rankings or recommendations elsewhere on the page.
- Publish content optimised primarily for advertiser performance. Articles are written for readers first.
- Use AI to generate publishable content without editorial review. Where AI tools assist drafting or research, human editorial review precedes publication.
