About ManyPets

ManyPets is the trading name of Bought By Many Ltd, an FCA-authorised insurer founded in 2012. The company rebranded from Bought By Many to ManyPets in 2021. All policies are underwritten by ManyPets Ltd and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. In the event of a dispute, policyholders can escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

ManyPets was named Pet Insurance Provider of the Year at the Moneyfactscompare Awards for the fifth consecutive year in 2026.

Cover levels and policy structure

ManyPets offers three plan tiers for dogs and cats. All plans are lifetime cover, meaning the annual vet fee limit resets at each renewal and chronic or recurring conditions stay covered for the life of the pet as long as the policy remains in force.

The Value plan provides lower vet fee limits and excludes dental illness and behavioural treatment. Standard Care and Complete Care increase the vet fee ceiling and add dental illness cover. The Complete Care plan covers pre-existing conditions that have been symptom-free and treatment-free for two or more years prior to the policy start date.

The excess structure is unusual in the UK market: policyholders pay excess once per policy year regardless of how many separate conditions are claimed for. Most UK pet insurers charge per condition per year. For pets likely to develop multiple conditions simultaneously, this structure reduces out-of-pocket costs significantly.

Claims process and payout data

ManyPets publishes a claims payout rate of 97%. This figure is self-reported. The Financial Ombudsman Service publishes aggregate complaint data by insurer annually; policyholders should check the most recent FOS data for any insurer before purchasing.

Claims can be submitted online via the ManyPets app or web portal. Direct payment to vets is available, which means the vet is paid by ManyPets rather than the policyholder claiming back after paying upfront. Not all veterinary practices accept direct payments.

What ManyPets does not cover

Standard exclusions across all plans include: pre-existing conditions (except on Complete Care after the two-year symptom-free period), elective procedures, breeding costs, and conditions arising within the waiting period. The standard waiting period is 14 days for illness and 48 hours for accidents. ManyPets waives the waiting period for policyholders switching directly from another insurer with equivalent or higher cover.

The Value plan excludes dental illness and behavioural treatment. Pet owners with dogs or cats prone to dental disease or anxiety-related conditions should check the cover tier carefully.
