TL;DR

Tesco Clubcard vouchers worth around £17 million are due to expire on 31 May 2026. Voucher balances can be checked in the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app or via the Clubcard account on tesco.com. Unspent vouchers can be used at the till, online, or exchanged with Reward Partners for up to 2x their face value.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers are issued quarterly to customers who collect points. Each voucher is valid for two years from the issue date. Vouchers expiring on 31 May 2026 were issued in May 2024.

Around 22 million UK households hold a Tesco Clubcard. Tesco has estimated the unspent total expiring on 31 May 2026 at approximately £17 million.

How to check Clubcard vouchers

Voucher balances are visible in three places:

  • The Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app, under the Clubcard tab
  • The Clubcard account on tesco.com, under My Vouchers
  • The most recent paper voucher pack, posted quarterly to Clubcard members who opted into paper communications

Each voucher shows the value and the expiry date. Vouchers expiring on 31 May 2026 appear in the My Vouchers list with a clear expiry warning.

Using vouchers in-store and online

Vouchers can be used at the face value to pay for groceries either in-store or online. In-store, the voucher code can be scanned from the app at the till. Online, codes can be applied at checkout.

A minimum voucher amount of £1.50 applies. Multiple vouchers can be combined.

Vouchers used at face value give the customer the cash-equivalent value of the points originally collected.

Reward Partners

The Reward Partners scheme allows vouchers to be exchanged at up to 2x their face value with around 100 partner brands. A £5 Clubcard voucher can become £10 with a partner. Categories include:

  • Restaurants (Pizza Express, ASK Italian, Zizzi, Café Rouge)
  • Days out (Legoland, Chessington, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Cadbury World)
  • Travel (Hoseasons, English Heritage, RAC, Spa Seekers)
  • Streaming and entertainment (Disney+ subscription credit, Cineworld)
  • Tesco Travel Insurance (1:1 voucher-to-discount rate)

Reward Partner codes are issued via the Clubcard app or website. A minimum exchange of £5 in vouchers applies. Each partner sets its own redemption terms and expiry dates for the exchanged code.

Can vouchers be extended past the expiry date?

Tesco does not formally extend vouchers as a customer service offering. However, the supermarket has historically allowed customers who contact Clubcard support with a credible reason for non-use (such as serious illness or bereavement) to have vouchers reissued on a discretionary basis.

Customers in that position should contact Clubcard support via the helpline number on the Clubcard help page on tesco.com before the expiry date, not after.

What happens if vouchers expire

Expired vouchers are removed from the Clubcard account. The associated points are not reinstated. Once removed, vouchers cannot be reissued through the standard customer service process.

Customers can check their points balance separately in the Clubcard app. Points are converted to vouchers automatically when a £1.50 voucher value is reached, and reissued at the next quarterly voucher run.

FAQ

Can a voucher be used after the expiry date if the transaction started before?

No. The voucher must be redeemed and the transaction completed before the expiry date. An order placed online before expiry but delivered after will still require valid voucher codes at the point of order.

Do Reward Partner exchanges have to be used by 31 May?

The voucher must be exchanged for a Reward Partner code by 31 May. The Reward Partner code then has its own validity period, typically 6 to 12 months, which can take redemption well into 2027.

Are Tesco Clubcard Plus subscription benefits affected?

Clubcard Plus is a separate £7.99 a month subscription offering 10% off shopping twice a month and other perks. It is not affected by voucher expiry, though any Clubcard vouchers earned through Plus shopping follow the standard 2-year expiry.

What happens to points if a Clubcard is closed?

If a Clubcard account is closed, points and vouchers are forfeited. Customers should redeem all outstanding points and vouchers before closing the account.
